Features and Benefits
High temperature strength: Inconel 718 can maintain good strength and toughness at temperatures up to about 700°C, mainly due to its internal stable γ' and γ'' phase structures.
Low temperature stability: The alloy can maintain its excellent physical and mechanical properties even at very low temperatures.
Excellent welding and processing: It has good weldability and processing, and can be welded and machined in various forms, whether in the annealed or aged state.
Excellent corrosion resistance: It has good tolerance to a variety of corrosive environments, including oxidizing, reducing and salt spray environments.
Microstructure
Inconel 718 alloy is mainly composed of γ (austenite) matrix and precipitated phases such as γ' (Ni₃(Al,Ti)), γ'' (Ni₃Nb) and δ (Ni₃Nb). These precipitated phases play a strengthening role in the alloy, giving it higher strength and hardness.
Manufacturing process
The manufacturing process of Inconel 718 alloy involves multiple links such as smelting, forging, rolling, and heat treatment. During smelting, the quality of raw materials and alloy composition must be strictly controlled to ensure the purity and uniformity of the alloy. During forging and rolling, the microstructure and mechanical properties of the alloy can be optimized through reasonable temperature and deformation. Heat treatment is a key link in the manufacturing process. Through solution treatment and aging treatment, the strength and hardness of the alloy can be improved.
Application field
Inconel 718 alloy is widely used in the following fields due to its excellent performance:
Aerospace: As a key component of aircraft engines and gas turbines, such as turbine blades, turbine disks and rotors.
Energy: Various elastic elements used in reactor pressure vessels, control rod drive mechanisms and nuclear fuel cycle systems in nuclear power plants.
Chemical industry: In the petroleum and chemical industries, it is used to manufacture various high-temperature and corrosion-resistant equipment and pipelines.
Cryogenic engineering: Used in the manufacture of cryogenic storage containers such as liquid nitrogen and liquid hydrogen.
Mold manufacturing: Used to manufacture high-temperature molds and withstand high-temperature and high-pressure working environments.
