Introduction to 17-7PH Stainless Steel Material:
17-7PH is a stainless steel alloy with high strength, good elasticity, and corrosion resistance. It is composed of elements such as iron, chromium, nickel, aluminum, and molybdenum, while also containing small amounts of elements such as carbon, copper, and silicon. This alloy has good tensile properties and elastic recovery ability, and also has good stability in high temperature and highly corrosive environments.
The main purpose of 17-7PH is to manufacture high-strength, high toughness, and high conductivity parts, such as springs, conductors, fasteners, etc. in the fields of electronics, aerospace, military, etc.
It is also widely used in the manufacture of various springs and elastic components, such as mechanical seals, pneumatic components, engine parts, etc. Meanwhile, 17-7PH is also commonly used to manufacture various components at high temperatures, such as automotive emission systems, industrial heat exchangers, etc.
The chemical composition of 17-7PH stainless steel mainly includes carbon, chromium, nickel, manganese, silicon, phosphorus, sulfur, and aluminum.
C | Cr | Ni | Mn | Si | P | S | Al |
≤0.09% | 16.00-18.00% | 6.50-7.75% | ≤1.00% | ≤1.00% | ≤0.040% | ≤0.030% | 0.75-1.50% |
Carbon (C): The content is usually below 0.09%, which helps to improve the hardness and strength of steel.
Chromium (Cr): with a content between 16.00% and 18.00%, its main function is to improve the corrosion resistance of steel.
Nickel (Ni): with a content between 6.50% and 7.75%, it improves the corrosion resistance of steel together with chromium.
Manganese (Mn): The content is usually below 1.00%, used to improve the strength and hardness of steel.
Silicon (Si): Content below 1.00% helps to improve the strength and hardness of steel.
Phosphorus (P): Content below 0.040% has little effect on the properties of steel.
Sulfur (S): Content below 0.030% has little effect on the properties of steel.
Aluminum (Al): with a content between 0.75% and 1.50%, it helps to improve the strength and hardness of steel.
In addition, 17-7PH stainless steel may also contain other elements such as niobium (Nb), with a content between 0.15% and 0.45%, to improve the strength and corrosion resistance of the steel. These chemical components collectively determine the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of 17-7PH stainless steel, making it suitable for various industrial applications.
The density of 17-7PH stainless steel is approximately 7.8 g/cm ³.
